Logos Final Versions

Almost forgot to upload the final versions of my logos.

As my personal stamp for the rest of the semester, I've picked my black text on red background textual logo.

Project Two-Step One

Okay, if I had to prioritize the companies I picked last night, it would be:
1) Teavana
2) KitchenAid
3) Pixar

After talking about it in class just now, I'm really leaning to Teavana.  I think I've made my decision!  Yay!
So, now that I've got that out of the way, I want to work out a plan for step two so that I don't waste time just flipping through magazines hoping for something I like.  What really interested me was the idea of using some of the designs and textures from the merchandise in the ad, although I also like the "tea lifestyle" aesthetic too.  I plan on spending today looking at Teavana's ads to get a little inspiration.
OOOH!  Just had an idea, want to write it down: maybe a tea set that is sort of a window into other worlds?  To evoke that meditative feeling you can get drinking a good cup of tea.  Also I just love tea sets.

Three Companies

So, trying to think of three companies I would like to do advertisements for.  I'm thinking: KitchenAid, Teavana, and Pixar.  I don't know why those are the three companies I can think of that I like.  Maybe I'll change my mind in class...

Link to Class Blog

I keep having trouble getting onto the class blog, so I'm just putting a link on mine that I can always get to.

Logos

Here are my logos for class.  I feel ok about them, but I really want to hear some criticism, because I know they can be better!  (NOTE: I don't have Adobe Illustrator and couldn't get on campus over the break, so I used Inkscape instead.  Hey, it's almost as good and it's FREE!)

Logo Sketches

After class last Thursday, I tried to come up with more ideas for logos.  Here's what I came up with...

I look forward to hearing everyone's thoughts on them!  I'm still not sure if I have one I really like yet.

Mood Board

This is my mood board!  I tend to favor organic colors, textures, and designs; spiraling vines in particular tend to grow over the pages of my notebooks.  But even though I tend to make fluid, intricate designs, I really admire people who can make something simple, structured, and yet still beautiful.  Graphic design tends to go for the latter, so I hope that by the end of this course I can pick some of that up!

Good and Bad Logos

Man, I kept meaning to update this as soon as I could, but I've been having trouble balancing my new schedule.  Gotta work that out!  Anyway:
This is my choice for a bad logo.  It's for the Escorpion bar here in Atlanta.  I probably shouldn't judge a local restaurant's logo as harshly as one for a major business, but that doesn't make it good.  It's busy and overly detailed (does not look good shrunken down) and it gives off that vibe of "trying to be cool."
This is my choice for a good logo: the famous Chanel logo.  It's clean and simple, easily recognizable, and it works both as a way to convey the name and as a design.
